SXSW El Paso Showcase

Splendid Sun Productions will be hosting a showcase of some of El Paso, TX best talent, Friday March 16th at The Trophy Room. There will be live performances by The D.A., Late Empire, The Lusitania, Slowhands, and Bulletproof Tiger along with last year's Dart Music International participants, The Halfbreed Lovers.

New Album from The Halfbreed Lovers

It's been a long journey for The Halfbreed Lovers. Their two years of writing and recording have finally resulted in a new album entitled, "For Some snd Not Others".
This long awaited project will be released on February 10th, 2012. The CD release party will take place at The Lowbrow Palace in El Paso, TX. It will also be available for preview and download on Amazon.com

With nods to Victor Talamantes' former bands Egon and The Bellakun, this fast paced shoegazer/indie rock piece is defintely something worth checking out

Maren Parusel with The Halfbreed Lovers

In a classic SXSW coincidence, both bands happened to play just blocks from each other on March 29th. We love Maren's dangerously demure style, and the Lover's soulful alt-rock. Now it's time to get these spacey rockers in the same building for once! Between The Halfbreed Lovers & Maren Parusel, this show's got more than enough quirky rhythm to get you dancing sans alcohol. But don't worry, there will be plenty of that too.

The halfbreed lover's lineup has changed yet again. Former bass player Valarie Apperson is now on drums. Former drummer Ulysses Apperson is now playing double keyboards. And of course, Victor Talamantes is leading steadily with guitar and vocals. The lovers have never been much for video, but from the looks of their new youtube channel, we are now free to violate them with our cameras.

New footage of their show for Black Cactus Records in Phoenix is sure to induce some seizures. You can also peek into their recording session with Audioconfusion.
